THE INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC ACADEMY has it’s roots in the Atlanta Music Scene since Chris Bowman and other instructors started teaching in the Atlanta area in the 70’s. The music scene was blooming. The Allman brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mose Jones, Eric Quincy Tate, Micropolis, The Classics IV, Atlanta Rhythm Section and other soon to be famous groups were just local bands. Alex Cooley’s Ballroom, The Head Rest, Funnochio’s, Richard’s and Uncle Sam’s were just a few of the venues that birthed the now international music scene from Atlanta talent.
After years with Micropolis, performing in clubs and concerts with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Greg Allman, Mike Bloomfield, in 1973 Chris Bowman recorded and toured with the Atlanta headliners the Classics IV, which recorded Spooky, Stormy, Traces, Everyday With You Girl; also recorded/toured with Tommy Roe, The Tams, Billy Joe Royal as a studio musician.
